London

23 April 2001

In London, Sonora organized a series of meetings and events to honor Luigi Nono, compositor and protagonist of the musical revival of our century, whose decennary of death has been recently celebrated.
In the London concert all Luigi Nono's expressions of musical technical-instrumental and content breaking off with the past will be proposed. This works belong to the musical writing of the sixties marked by civil and political engagement through the use of the electronic instruments of the Phonology Studio of RAI (Milan): La fabbrica illuminata (1964) and Ricorda cosa ti hanno fatto in Auschwitz (1966).
The turning-point of Sofferte onde serene (1974-76), for piano and magnetic recording tape, opens the way to new musical roads: Luigi Nono sets a sound in equilibrium on the perception threshold of a music which is born in silence, through a different relationship with Holderin text and with the collaboration of Massimo Cacciari, against the progressive content expulsion exercised by the mass communication. In 1981 he composed Das Atmende Klarsein, for bass flute, little chorus and live electronics, written with Roberto Fabbriciani.
