Subject of the competition:
“Intrecci” (Weavings)
Music is the ideal meeting place for sounds, voices, cultures, times, techniques and tradition. The creation of cultural networks is the basis for making faraway worlds come together.
This process is particularly important for young people who, confronting themselves with other cultures, can broaden their views; what is fundamental for this formative period of their lives.
In this way, the musical experience becomes an open field where curiosity and experimentation lead to expand language, widening the possibilities of communication and helping integration and dialogue between different peoples and cultures.

For this competition, composers are invited to chose a literary work inherent to the given subject, and to build on it a musical composition, especially thought to be performed by the young musicians of the orchestra.
The literary work can be used in a “programmatic” way, or directly inserted in the composition through the narrator.
The literary work must be of public domain; if not, the composer must hold the authorisation by the author or publisher for the publication of the works by Edizioni Sconfinarte.
