Sentieri selvaggi is an ensemble comprising some of the best Italian musicians who have come together with the aim to bring contemporary music closer to a wide audience. Founded in 1997 by Carlo Boccadoro, Filippo Del Corno and Angelo Miotto, over the years Sentieri selvaggi:
- has established a close collaboration with composers such as Michael Nyman, Philip Glass, David Lang, James MacMillan, Lorenzo Ferrero, Ivan Fedele and Louis Andriessen
- has been regular guest at the most prestigious Italian musical seasons (Teatro alla Scala, Biennale di Venezia, MITO Settembre Musica), at Italy’s main cultural events (FestivaLetteratura/Mantova, Festival della Scienza/Genova) and at important international festivals (Bang On A Can Marathon/New York, SKIF Festival/Saint Petersburg)
- has organized a festival in Milan which since 2005 has become a contemporary music season with a programme of concerts, public talks, masterclasses. Every programme focuses on a specific theme: in 2010 the title of the season is Nuovo Mondo (New World)
- has produced publications and recordings: the CDs La Formula del fiore, Bad blood, Child, Acts of beauty, Hotel occidental and the books/CDs Musica Cœlestis. In 2006 the ensemble recorded the anthology AC/DC for the American label Cantaloupe Music. In 2008 the recording of Il cantante al microfono with soloist Eugenio Finardi won the 2008 Targa Tenco.
- has staged chamber operas, which have met with wide success of audiences and critics (productions include: Io Hitler by Filippo Del Corno, The man who mistook his wife for a hat by Michael Nyman, The Sound of a Voice by Philip Glass).
