Povilas Bingelis - Biography
Lituania, 1981

Instrument: Bassoon
Born in Lithuania 1981 Bingelis studied bassoon with Juozas Slankauskas in Vilnius and Asger Svendsen in Copenhagen, Denmark. Twice he won 2nd prize in Wind Players Competition in Lithuania. In 1999 he got contract in Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and joined Lithuanian Bassoon quartet with which he toured Baltic and Scandinavian countries in 2004. Later he got position in Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra, where he worked 2 years. During studies in Denmark Bingelis has played in professional orchestras both Denmark and Sweden. With his colegues he toured Scandinavia performing I. Stravinsky's L'histoire du soldat. He has participated in youth orchestras as Collegium Musicum Schloss Pommersfelden, Janacek Youth Philharmonic, Orkester Norden, year 2005-2006 member of European Union Youth Orchestra. He has played with such conductors as: O. Kammu, P. Berman, J. Bashmet, J. L. Koenig, B. Haitink, J.E. Gardiner. Povilas Bingelis has also performed, as soloist, Mozart and Vivaldi bassoon concertos with Kaunas Chamber Orchestra in Lithuania.
