Andrea Franceschelli - Biography

Instrument: Oboe
Oboist and Conductor, he began the concert activity when he was very young and made himself known very soon on the international level. He won the musical contest for 1° Oboe in the "S. Cecilia" Concervatoire's Orchestra in Rome and then he followed post-graduate studies with Pierre Pierlot (Opera Paris) and Harold Gomberg (New York Philharmonic).
He has performed all over Europe and Africa (Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto, Settimane Musicali Senesi, Roma Musica '900, Festival de Aix en Provençe, FestSpillene Im Bergen, ScarlattiFest in Berlin, and also in Budapest, Bratislava, Praga, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Paris, Nice, Amsterdam, Cairo and at the Carnegie Hall in New York) where he performed classical and modern repertory.
He was interesting in the "new" musical production and studied in particular the contemporaneous oboe tecnique. He performed many first executions of works by Luciano Berio, Goffredo Petrassi, Karlheinz Stockhausen and many others.
During that period he devoted himself to chamber music, taking part in several recordings for the RCA, Fonit-Cetra, Quadrivium. He is now regarded as the most important Italian conductor for wind ensembles.
He teaches in stages and masterclasses in Europe and at New York University; he also teaches Musica d'Insieme for wind instruments at the Conservatory of Perugia.
