Fabio Maestri got a diploma in piano at the Musical Institute "G. Briccialdi" of his city with full marks in 1975. At the beginning he was auto-didact in composition, then he attended, helding a diploma, the Specialisation Course held by franco Donatoni at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome). He was a student of Franco Ferrara in the Orchestra Conduction Course at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena in 1979.
Some of his compositions have been executed by soloists such as Fabbriciani, Ancillotti, Scarponi, published by Ricordi, Ricordi - Francia, BMG, broadcast (Rai Tre), prized and mentioned in several contests: Filarmonica Umbra (1979), Venezia Opera Prima (1981), "G. B. Viotti" in Vercelli (1981), Ente concerti di Belveglio (1982), Concorso Achantes in Paris (1983). He directed many revisions of works by Pergolesi, Haendel, Padre Martini, Morlacchi, Vaccaj, Haydn. Since 1984 to 1990 he was assistant at the Composition Course held by Franco Donatoni at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
Fabio Maestri carries out his concert activity as pianist and harpsichord, but also as Orchestra Conductor. He conducted at the Experimental lyrical theatre in Spoleto, at the International Courses in Lanciano, at the Sagra Musicale Umbra, at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, at the Festival in Fermo, at the Festival Operaincanto (Narni), at the Belcanto Festival Dordrecht (Netherland), at the Opera Theatre in Nizza, at the S. Carlo Theatre in Naples, at theFestival delle Nazioni (Città di Castello); he was guest of the Symphonic Orchestra in Sanremo, of the Istituzione sinfonica Abruzzese, of the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, of the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali (Milan), of the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio, of the Orchestra Regionale Campana, of the Orchestre Philarmonique de Nice. He also carries out an intense activity as performer of contemporary music; he has conducted many times the Biennale di Venezia, the Festival "Musica d'Oggi", the festival Pontino, the festival organised by Nuova Consonanza, the Festival in Villa Medici (Rome), the Accademia Filarmonica Romana (Olimpico Theatre).
From 1996 to 2000 he directed in Jesi the Pergolesi Festival, organised by the Foundation Pergolesi - Spontini. He is actually a member of the artistic commetteeof the Associazione Filarmonica Umbra in Terni and artistic director of the Festival Operaincanto (Narni).
