He got a diploma in viola with P. Farulli and orchestra conduction with B. Aprea at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia.
He attended several orchestra conduction specialisation courses, such as in 1993 and 1994 the courses held in the Accademia Musicale Chigiana of Siena by the Maestros I. Musin, V. Gergiev and Myung-Whun Chung, who have selected him as one of the worthiest students for the awarding of a grant.
From 1988 to 1993 he has carried out an intense concert and discographic activity as director of the ensemble "Piccola Accademia", he has been guest of many famous institutions such as the National Academy of Santa Cecilia. In January 1994 he made his debut on the podium of the Symphonic Orchestra of Graz, reaching a high popularity; for this reason he was appointed First Guest Conductor for the Season '95-'96. In the same year he conducted the Orchestra of the Theatre "La Fenice" in Venice.
This was the beginning of an intense international activity, which led him on the podium of many famous ensembles such as the Orchestras of the Radio in Münich, Leipzig, Zagabria, the Tonkünstlerorchestra in Vienna, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Genève, the Orchestra of the Mozarteum in Salzburg and in the Musikverein in Vienna, the Grossfestspielhaus in Salzburg and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.
In 1997 he conducted the work Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali by Donizetti at the Kammeroper in Vienna; in 1998 "Così fan tutte" at the Slovak National Theatre in Batislava.
In November 1998 he recorded the ballet La boutique fantastique by Rssini-Respighi with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Radio of Leipzig (MDR). He conducted also a new production of Attila by Verdi at the Opera Theatre in Strasbourg (Opéra du Rhin). He teaches orchestra conduction at the Consevatoire "A. Casella" in L'Aquila.
