Maria Vittoria Crotti began her musical studies with her grandfather, a pianist, afterwards shifting her studies to the violin. She receiving her diploma under the guidance of Ladislau Petru Horvath while studying at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Florence, Italy).
She has continued her studies at the SommerAkademie Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, and the "Accademia Russa di Alto Perfezionamento" of Portogruaro.
As the winner of a scholarship, she studied in Philadelphia with the violinist Lenuta Ciulei (1st Prize, Paganini 1976) for three years. At the same time, she was completing the diploma in the triennial chamber music course held by Pier Narciso Masi at the "Accademia Pianistica Internazionale di Imola".
She currently studies in New York, in the studio of Lewis Kaplan, world famous violinist and teacher at the Juilliard School and Mannes College of Music.
For the past 10 years, she has distinguished herself and received prizes in numerous competitions, including the "34 Rassegna Nazionale Violinisti Studenti" of Vittorio Veneto, the 19th "Concorso Nazionale L. Perosi" of Biella, the 8th "Concorso Internazionale di Musica Trofeo Kawai" of Tortona, the National Competition of Young Musicians of Montescudo, and the competition of musical interpretation "Genova 1998".
From the age of 15, she has studied with many important violinists, including Pavel Vernikov, Igor Voloscin, Matis Vaitsner, Ilya Grubert, and Giugliano Carmignola. She has studied chamber music with Manuel Zigante, Milan Skampa, Antonello Farulli, Alain Meunier, Angelo Faja, Boris Baraz, Tiziano Mealli, Andrea Nannoni, and Guido Corti.
She became a member of the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana (OGI) at the very young age of 15, performing in the most important concert halls in Italy and abroad, under the direction of Carlo Maria Giulini, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Eliahu Inbal, Daniele Gatti, Gianluigi Gellmetti, Piero Bellugi, Gyorgy Gyorivanji Rath, and Yuri Ahronovitch. Subsequently, she has attended numerous international academies, including the Academy of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, under the direction of Nir Kabaretti, Piero Pellugi, and Zubin Mehta, under whom she performed as principal and Concertmistress.
She has performed with many prestigious youth orchestras, including the International Orchestra Institute of Attergau, patronized by the Vienna Philharmonic, and conducted by Donald C. Runnicles at the Salzburg Festival, and the "Accademia Gustav Mahler" of Bolzano, directed by Gustav Kuhn, where she was selected to perform a duo concert with the pianist Christiane Karajeva, professor at the Hochschule di Vienna.
She has performed with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, with whom she toured Spain, and with the Haddonfield Symphony, under the direction of Milanov Rossen. She was concertmistress of the Rowan Symphony orchestra in New Jersey, and  collaborates regularly with the orchestra "G.Verdi" of Milan, where she has performed with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, R.Barshai, U.Schirmer, P.Inkinen, J.Hirokami, T.Shimono, and Vladimir Jurowski.
From 2002, she has been a finalist for the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), and has been a member of the SIXE ensemble, a part of the "Italian Sound for Europe" project, with whom she has toured Western Europe, Egypt and Greece, performing chamber music in various arrangements.
