Tre lune (Three moons)
Artemide, Selene, Ecate (2005) for stereophonic diffusion system
duration 9'20"

When I was a teenager, I liked to stare at the moon, silver in the dark sky of the countryside where I used to live, while the silence seemed to encourage me to listen to the deep pumping of my heart. Now that my favourite game is chasing time, I am sometimes happy just with my recollections.
This sound trilogy is a tribute to the changing image of the moon, that tells about the cyclicity of things, made of rises, climaxes and falls, that influence the flow of time.
The main thread of the composition is a short melody of brilliant fragments. The irregular sound structure, composed of its elements variously combined, thickens or thins till it disappears, blows full in colours or tends to homogeneity. The changes in space and time of this structure aim at highlighting movement and defining perspectives, gradually bringing the listener from one point of view to the other.
The irregular rhythm in the change of the role of this sound structure, its patchy but not random transformation into image or background should substantially be what distinguishes each part of the composition from the others. (Beatrice Lasio)
