Francesco Antonioni composes music for orchestras, chamber groups, soloists and electronics, which reflects his vast range of interests. His compositions have been commissioned and played by major orchestras and festivals: Biennale di Venezia, MiTo Settembre Musica, Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rome), Lingotto (Turin), Arena di Verona, MATA Festival (New York), Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, Tonhalle Zurich, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Wigmore Hall (London). From 2009 his scores are published by Casa Ricordi.

Since his debut at the Biennale di Venezia in 2001 the music of Francesco Antonioni has been greeted as a promise, rich in inventive, freshness and independent originality: «A composer we will certainly hear of», predicted the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.



Tenured professor of Composition at the conservatory, he has been visiting scholar at the Cornell University (USA), with a Fulbright scholarship.Francesco is also very active as radio presenter and speaker on RAI–Radio3 (Italian State Broadcaster).
