Conductors

Riccardo Ceni studied composition with Bruno Bettinelli and Azio Corghi, conducting with Maurizio Benini, Daniele Gatti, Guido Guida and Carlo Maria Giulini (at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole), choral conducting with Norbert Balatsch (at the Bayreuth Festival), Franco Monego and Tonu Kaljuste, graduating in composition, in vocal polyphony, in choral conducting and in orchestral conducting (in the conservatories of Milano and Bologna and at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Roma). List state professor at the Conservatorio of Bari, he holds seminars at the conservatories of Lugano and Ferrara (in collaboration with the Scuola dell’Opera Italiana of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna) and at the Real Conservatorio Superior in Madrid. He wrote an opera taken from Offenbach's music, commissioned by the Münster’s Theater. He cooperates as a consultant with publishers such as Ricordi and Franco Maria Ricci, with the magazine Musik and Ästhetik and with the tv broadcasting Raisat. He worked as choir conductor with Nuova Polifonica Ambrosiana, with whom he recorded “Music at the court of the Sforzas” and cut a monographic CD on Mayr with the orchestra Milano Classica. He also conducted the Choir of the Collegio Ghislieri in Pavia and the Arion Choir. In the field of orchestral conducting, he was finalist at the 2003 international competition of Spoleto “Young Orchestra Conductors of the EC”. After an apprenticeship as a coach, he worked with the Orchestra Guido Cantelli, and he made his first debut at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano. He also conducts, in opera productions and concerts, the Orchestra Sinfonica Arturo Toscanini, the Operalaboratorio of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Orchestra of the Arena di Verona, the Teatro alla Scala Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, I Pomeriggi Musicali, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. With the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino he cut the cd "Skin", and recently published "Dolly today - around Faure" (Stradivarius edition). He is musical director of the Ensemble 2 agosto, specialized in contemporary repertoire, that has his debut in the 2009 season of the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte di Montepulciano and is recently invited for a residency at the Festival MozartBox 2010, inaugurating a collaboration with the writer Marcello Fois and with the violist Christophe Desjardins.
